How to Use the ONLINE CIF

Registered Users are advised to print out the following help sheets:

  1. Sample Data Entry Form & Instructions
  2. Service Categories
  3. Organizations/Programs Listed
  4. Drop Down Lists for Data Entry
  5. Tracking Codes & Verification

HOW TO USE DROP DOWN LISTS

DROP DOWN LISTS are a set of common categories for a particular field.  Drop down lists help to limit the range of possible choices.  A limited set of responses is useful for the sort and query functions of the database.  (A query is a subset of the database based on selected criteria).

If the list of suggested choices does not match your program – just type in what fits.  If we see a trend, we will add that descriptor to the drop down list.

Copies of the GARRETT CIF database on disk in Microsoft Access ’97 format are available for Registered Users.  Suggestions for additional drop down lists are welcomed.  CONTACT Lucia Biers by E-mail at: Garrett Partnership.

**Note:  At this time “private, for-profit” listings are not included in the ONLINE CIF.  In order to sustain this project at the conclusion of the grant cycle, the addition of fee-based ONLINE CIF listings for ‘for-profit’ organizations that provide a service for children and families is under active consideration.  The suggested annual fee is $25.00.  Please contact Lucia Biers at 301-334-1189 if your for-profit organization would like to be listed in the Garrett LMB ONLINE CIF.  The GIC Committee reserves the right to screen for-profit program records prior to posting.
